About the role

We are looking for a Senior Process Engineer Technical, Metals to join the RTK Technical team and be a leader in the technical team for the Metals (Refinery Tank House and Precious Metals) portion of the value stream. This team is responsible to enable industry leading performance, to identify threats and opportunities for safe and efficient delivery of cathode/byproducts and to ensure the right focus for optimization across the full value stream.

Reporting to the Refinery Principle Advisor Technical, Metals you will:
  • Primarily, manage a suite of improvement initiatives across the Refinery Tank House and Precious Metals.
  • Contribute to a team of Process Engineers / Metallurgists whom provide technical support to the Refinery Tank House, Anode Preparation, Cathode stripping and Precious Metals.
  • Interface with Technical, Operations, Asset Management, Integration, and Environmental teams to ensure peak safety, environmental, and production performance in the Refinery.
  • Be one of the primary Technical contacts for all day to day technical support needs. This includes:
    • Process Control
    • Process Monitoring
    • Troubleshooting
    • Environmental Compliance
    • Asset Integrity
    • Safety
  • Provide 24/7 technical support with Technical Team via scheduled on-site support for weekday shift and on-call support for night shift and weekends.
  • Participate in value stream planning decisions, optimising the Refinery operation.
  • Undertake regular inspection of works to ensure that all standards, policies, and procedures comply within the operations area.
  • Aid start-up and commissioning activities to avoid plant start-up delays and/or shutdowns.
  • Support Metals Technical & Operational leaders on specific initiatives in their work areas.
  • Support environmental compliance and performance improvement of the Refinery and Precious Metals.
  • Interface with relevant central teams (RT Copper Technical and RT Centre of Excellence) to maximize their support for the Kennecott business.
  • Be aware of current conditions in the rest of the value stream that will affect production and asset requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (Operations, Asset Management, Projects, Business Improvement, Financial & Commercial) to influence, prioritize and support improvements to the Byproducts Area
  • Support environmental compliance and performance improvement of the Byproducts Area

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Hydrometallurgy, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or related Engineering Field
  • 6+ years of related process engineering work experience (preferred Copper electrorefining, or copper electrowinning experience)
  • Knowledge of technical, operational and financial aspects of copper refining, gold and silver processes
  • Ability to understand, explain, and troubleshoot complex, inter-related unit operations, processing systems, projects, and production strategies
  • Execution of projects for short term projects to innovate, improve or expand the life of the processes.
  • Skilled in collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders from plant personnel to organization leaders
  • Skills in statistical and data analytics
  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in MS Office and spreadsheet applications
  • Intermediate working proficiency of process data historian systems (notably OSIsoft PI)

It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • 4+ Experience in supervisory role
  • Exposure to Lean and Six Sigma processes
  • Experience with Process Safety Management systems
  • Experience with advanced control systems
