Senior Mine Planner

Trafigura Group has an immediate need for a qualified Senior Mine Planner at its Myra Falls Mine on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.  Myra Falls Mine is an underground mine operation located 90 km southwest of Campbell River, BC in the picturesque surroundings of Strathcona Provincial Park. Surrounded by mountains and lakes, the trip to the mine has some of the world’s most impressive views.

This position has a flexible rotation which allows the candidate to work from home and come to site once a month for few days (to be agreed upon with the candidate).  Transportation and accommodation will be provided. Description:

This position will manage and lead the planning team in the development of the mining plans and to develop the mid to long range plans. This position will report to the Technical services and Mine Manager and is responsible for ensuring the following:

• Compliance with Myra Falls Mine HSEC policies
• Leading and managing the mine planners in developing the weekly and 3 months plan.
• Developing and maintaining standards operating procedures for the operations.
• Developing the mine forecast every quarter, budget every year and Life of mine plans
• Coaching and mentoring the mine planners in the development of the mining plans

Qualifications

• This position requires a degree in Mining engineering from a recognized institution.
• A qualification of professional engineering in Canada will be an asset
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in underground mining is required
• At least 3 years in mine planning (mine design and mine schedule) using Deswik CAD/Sched
• Experience in budgeting process and Life of mine planning
• Experience in resource and reserve estimations
