Position:

The Technical Services Manager will be the senior leader of all Underground Technical and Engineering functions at the company mine property. The role will primarily report to the General Manager, Underground Projects.

Technical functions reporting to the Technical Services Manager include Mine Planning & Scheduling, Engineering, Mine Geology, Geotechnical, Electrical, Surveying and associated consultants.

Accountability:

The Technical Services Manager, reports to the Underground Production Manager on all aspects of administrative and technical operations.

Responsibilities/Duties:

•Leadership and Management of all Technical Functions, with a focus on: Departmental administration and supervision - supervise and manage mine engineering and survey departments.

•Responsible for direct and in-direct supervision of mining consultants and contractors.

•Assist, execute and manage operations management.

•Ventilation, Dewatering and Rock mechanics.

•Perform engineering project work.

•Mine Surveying and Quality Control.

Knowledge/Education:

The Technical Services Manager should have proficient knowledge in the following areas:

•Safety & Functional Leadership

•Multi-functional department management

•An in-depth understanding of operations management including cash flow and budgeting

•A comprehensive understanding of mine-site operations

•High level project management and supervisory skills

•Knowledge of mining methods, design, planning, costing, development/construction/production, and operations

•Knowledge of financial, planning and project management reporting

•Knowledge and understanding of MSHA mine safety legislation and regulations

•Strong understanding of underground and Open Pit mining practices, policies, procedures, and standards

•Strong understanding in project management, mine haulage systems, etc.

•Knowledge of computer programs including standard office programs

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with preferably 20 years' experience in the mining industry, including at least 5 years in a multi-functional leadership role.
