We are looking for a Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor to join our Facilities team based in Dunedin. You'll be across Facilities contracts and projects across this region with a view to champion safety practices across this project and create a safe and efficient working environment for everyone.

In this role you will be required to:
  • Assist operational teams in the effective implementation of the Health, Safety & Environmental Management System requirements
  • Assist in the implementation of key health, safety & environmental initiatives
  • Provide direction, coaching and mentoring
  • Influence and advise to ensure health, safety & environmental concerns are assessed and addressed in work methods
  • Facilitate and lead investigation processes (where necessary)
  • Provide best practice advice
  • Undertaken verification activities to ensure health, safety & environmental processes and risk controls are adequate and effective
  • Facilitate injury management / return to work processes
  • Support safe behaviours through proactive safety conversations and visible leadership

Day to day you will:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the HSE plan supporting best practices, reducing work process risks and continuous improvement in HSE performance
  • Work closely with frontline managers across multiple sites to provide HSE leadership
  • Assist in the development of and lead and drive the standardisation and implementation of key safety and sustainability management system processes.
  • Provide expert HSE technical advice and support compliance with legislative obligations
  • Lead and/or assist as a technical expert in the investigation into accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries to determine causes and review and recommend preventive measures
  • The ability to travel and support neighbouring regions if and when required

About you:

Bring your collaborative and engaging approach as we are a team working alongside our managers and crews in real-time action and your natural problem-solving abilities. You'll be someone who uses their initiative and has excellent communications skills, coupled with prior experience in a similar operational environment, including particular application and implementation of HSE process and disciplines.

Your toolbox will also include:
  • Experience in verification protocols, maintaining ACC Accredited Employer Programme accreditation
  • A proven track record in driving a 'just culture' that support HSE management, encouraging and rewarding excellence
  • The ability to influence HSE in planning and implementation stages of work activities with the aim to further enhance a zero-harm culture
  • Understanding and delivery of effective rehabilitation as required under ACC Accredited Employer Programme
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001

Ideal candidates will have health, safety & environmental experience in facilities / maintenance sector.
