Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivatedSenior Environmental Planner/Ecologistto join our Environmental Services Group inMississauga.

The Hatch Environmental Services Group (ESG) undertakes studies and delivers environmental services in the areas of environmental and social impact assessment, permitting, community engagement, sustainability/corporate social responsibility, climate change and related project delivery services. Our wealth of engineering, environmental, EPCM project delivery and procurement experience and our global footprint is highly differentiated in the growing environmental services market. We are currently seeking a Senior Environmental Planner/Ecologist in our Mississauga office.

As the successful candidate, you will:
  • Working with senior leaders to help grow the revenue and profit of our existing environmental consulting practice in the areas of environmental and social impact assessment, permitting and natural heritage studies;
  • Project Development, Project management, QA/QC and oversight of key environmental deliverables;
  • Working collaboratively with integrated, multidisciplinary teams; liaising and supporting colleagues globally;
  • Willingness for both domestic and international travel, as work requires;
  • Proven ability to take initiative;
  • Investigation of new technologies for data collection;
  • Effectively managing internal and external stakeholders; and


You bring to the role:
  • Post-secondary education in environmental science or biology;
  • Project management for Environmental Assessments (e.g., documentation, environmental impact studies and ecological monitoring reports), including strategies for new technologies to collect and analyze existing conditions, identification of ecological sensitivities, potential impacts and recommended mitigation and management measures;
  • Demonstrated success in client engagement with the ability to generate new opportunities for the team;
  • 10 years’ relevant experience ideally within the mining, infrastructure and/or energy sectors;
  • Demonstrated experience in terrestrial ecology, specifically in designing and providing oversight for environmental investigations and technical studies;
  • Experience in conducting botanical and wildlife surveys with thorough understanding of monitoring protocols, including Species at Risk surveys;
  • Certified in Ecological Land Classification and wetland delineation;
  • Demonstrated experience leading applications for permits under Provincial and Federal legislation, and providing strategic advice to proponent clients in this regard;
  • Effective, open communication and presentation style with the ability to plan and execute best in class, high quality deliverables.
