Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. The Round Mountain Phase W Project is now in production, with first gold poured in May 2019.
Job Description
Under the direction of the Mine Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for the daily operation of mine equipment in an active mine environment. All work must be completed in a safe and efficient manner while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross' values .
Job Responsibilities
1. Operate mine equipment (haul truck, rubber tire dozer, water truck, loader, track dozer, shovel, etc) based on the need of the business.
2. Operate in a safe and efficient manner, causing the least wear and/or damage to the equipment and mine property; maintaining the highest level of production possible, in all tasks assigned.
3. Know the work area and dump locations in the mine. Safety conscious with a basic knowledge of pit policies and procedures.
4. Have basic knowledge of mechanical system and demonstrated ability to perform and document a thorough pre-operational inspection to evaluate mechanical condition of the truck.
5. Blind spot recognition required, in all equipment individual is task trained.
6. Helps develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above.
7. Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct.
8. Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management.
9. Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.
10. Works without risk or harm to self and others.
11. Punctuality and regular attendance required.
12. Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.
Education and Experience
Skills
1. Must be able to operate a 2-way radio, and follow instructions.
2. Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
3. General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations.
4. Working knowledge and skill with P.C.
5. Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
6. Ability to work independently and also as a member of a team
7. Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets
8. Constantly willing and able to improve skills
9. Must keep accurate records of loads and equipment condition
10. Must understand the functions of the Caterpillar EMS/VIMS panel
11. Be able to operate CAT MineStar (dispatch operating system panel)
12. Must meet the attendance policy as outlined in the RMGC employee site specific guidelines
13. Must be able to read and understand written documentation
14. Previous off highway heavy equipment or haul truck operation is preferred
15. Previous experience working in an active open pit mine preferred
16. Requires valid driver's license
