As part of a global strategy to facilitate growth an opportunity has arisen for a Director of Engineering to join a Global, $multimillion mining OEM. Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering and to be based near Toronto, Ontario.

This Director of Engineering role will be responsible for the overall technical execution of the Advanced Vehicle and Technology Group through the leadership and management of their product teams, and strong communication with other departments that contribute to the overall quality and success of the end product.

As the Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for the following:

• Leading and managing the technical product team in the fields of battery electric vehicles, radio/tele remote control systems, advanced vehicle control, robotics, and autonomous vehicles.
• Developing and growing the existing team in both numbers and competency to accomplish company goals.
• Delivering the overall technical execution of the technology products through the leadership and management of the product teams.
• Directly managing the Product Engineering Managers.
• Providing significant input into strategic plans for the continued expansion of technology products, identifying mining industry trends and opportunities.
• Providing on-going feedback to the Vice President of Engineering and communicate with other departments that contribute to the overall quality and success of the end product.
• Travelling both domestic and internationally is a requirement of this position.
• Be technical representative at trade shows and events.

Essential requirements are:

• Previous experience as an Engineering Manager with mining equipment.
• Previous experience with the implementation of vehicle technology/automation into mining equipment.
• Bilingual in English and French would be an asset.
