Responsibilities:

  • Buyer
    • Implement and support the continuous improvement and execution of Barrick`s purchasing policy, procedures, and systems
    • Ensure successful procurement of goods through effective supply agreements in terms of costs, quality, quantity, warranty, and consistency in availability.
    • Support the material contracting needs with the user areas as well as identify and develop suppliers in the market to support commercial and operational needs.
    • Acquire materials according to the operations requirements, obtaining the best total cost of ownership, term of execution and quality conditions.
    • Interact with operating divisions (internal customers) on regular basis to absolutely understand procurement requirements
    • Manage all supply contract administrative matters, relating to claims, disputes,
    • Purchase Requisition Support and Training
  • Warehouse Management
    • Assists in unloading and loading trucks
    • Operates a forklift when required.
    • Maintains a clean and orderly storage area.
    • Assists in periodic, cycle, and annual inventories.
    • Receives, checks, stores and issues supplies, materials, and equipment.
    • Able to determine sources of supplies and materials.
    • Maintain inventory records.
    • Inspects deliveries for damaged goods or discrepancies. And, using established warehouse procedures, reconciles discrepancies with suppliers or shippers.
    • Has a thorough understanding of ALL warehouse procedures.
    • Required to make sound decisions based on knowledge of warehouse procedures.
    • Performs and records daily inspections of work area, and light equipment, plus monthly inspections of fire extinguishers, and annual inspection of smoke detectors.
    • Performs recommended buys and material requisitions and then transfers them to the Purchasing Department.
    • Able to reconcile inventory variances with the skill and knowledge acquired on the job
Requirments:

  • Experience with inventory control - preferred
  • Computer experience with excel, word and SAP preferred
  • Excellent safety and attendance record required
  • Ability to work well with others, teamwork required
  • Ability to operate equipment such as forklifts preferred
