Diamond Geologist

Work Location: All FMG operational Sites

Roster: 8D/6R FIFO ex. Perth

An opportunity exists for an experienced Geologist to join the Diamond Drilling team across our Pilbara operations.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Monitoring safety compliance in the field
  • Daily supervision of diamond core rigs
  • Day-to-day management of drilling campaigns
  • High quality logging of diamond core (lithological and Geotechnical logging)
  • Ensuring sample quality on the rigs
  • Drawing on experience to help drive innovation within the team

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Absolute commitment to safety and FMG Values
  • Tertiary degree in Geoscience
  • Exposure to Arc GIS preferred
  • Experienced in the use of geological database systems
  • Knowledge of Pilbara geology and different mineralisation styles
  • Understanding of iron ore minerology / textures
  • Fundamental knowledge of core logging requirements (Logging, QAQC, use of Downhole Geophysics)
  • Highly proficient in MS Office suite
  • Can work both autonomously with minimal supervision and as part of a large team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities
  • High degree of organisational skills
  • Experience managing drill rigs
