Position summary
BUMA Australia was established in 2021 to acquire the Open Cut Mining business of Downer. This acquisition included the transition of all people, mining services contracts, assets, systems and intellectual property from a business which has successfully provided mining and civil services in diverse locations and across many commodities for over 75 years. Currently BUMA Australia successfully manages operations across four sites and we have plans to continue to expand and grow.

We are currently seeking an experienced Health Safety and Training Coordinator to join the team at our Meandu site which is a residential mine located 25 kilometres south-east of Kingaroy. This is permanent role and a residential position; therefore, no camp or accommodation is provided.

Reporting to the Health, Safety and Training Superintendent, the role participates in ensuring that BUMA systems and processes are appropriately implemented on site in support of health, safety and training strategies and goals.

This role is responsible for coordinating all production site training including the management and mentoring of site production training and assessment personnel, along with developing and maintaining compliance with both the project and Downer Mining HST System standards and procedures, to ensure the competence and well-being of people, the integrity of equipment, and the safe handling of materials.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
  • Ensuring that appropriate personnel are put forward to become Trainers and Assessors.
  • Monitoring and mentoring of current Trainer and Assessors
  • Assist with the implementation of Learning Management System on site.
  • Coordinate simulation into training delivery for operators/ Supervisors.
  • Participate in the continual improvement of Operational Training and Assessment processes.
  • Undertake specific projects as defined by the Health, Safety and Training Superintendent.
  • Conduct regular audits of site HST systems and processes to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Review and update site documentation as required including Plan, Procedures and other documentation for HST.
  • Assist within internal and external audits and follow up actions/outcomes.
  • Monitoring and maintenance of the CFS and PMP.

ABOUT YOU:

The successful candidate will possess the following:
  • Certificate IV in Training and Workplace Assessment required.
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety required.
  • RIIWHS301 Safety and Health Investigations
  • RIICOM301 Communicate Information
  • RIIRIS301 Apply Risk Management Processes
  • RIWHS601 Establish and Maintain the WHS Management System
  • Audit experience/qualification desirable
  • Knowledge of Meandu Mine SHMS
  • Knowledge of Downer Mining Management Standards, Procedures and HST Systems.
  • Intermediate-Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to liaise with staff at all levels.
  • Ability to demonstrate skills in time management, organisation and teamwork.
  • Hold a current light vehicle driver's license.
