We are looking for a Portfolio Manager, roles like these do not come along often. About the role:

Downer holds a long-term relationship with the New Plymouth District Council (NPDC). This involves the proactive delivery of integrated Contract Management in the successful delivery of the NPDC Infrastructure Term Service Contract. The primary focus on this role will be working alongside the Service Manager and providing disciplined and structured contract management that increases certainty, manages risk, and optimises performance.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a high-performance team who are focused on delivering outstanding outcomes for NPDC. This role includes relationship building and culture development, commercial and financial contract management, strategic and professional thinking, health and safety leadership with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement in all aspects.

Other duties will include:
  • Working with the Project Managers, Maintenance Managers, Client's Representatives Supervisor/ Foreman, Subcontractors and suppliers to assist with, schedule and deliver the required works including - scoping, estimating, risk management, planning and programming with a strong focus on Health & Safety requirements.
  • Promoting strong collaborative client relationships with positive interactions and value adding activities
  • Working collaboratively as part of the NPDC and with the wider Downer business
  • This is a busy and varied role that will suit someone who is team focused, outcome focused and a strong relationship builder, ensuring that the clients' requests are managed before problems arise.

About you:

You will have solid tenure and experience in some form of Infrastructure or similar role. You'll be someone with a high degree of commercial, financial/business acumen coupled with site management and leadership experience.

It is also essential that you hold the following skills and attributes:
  • Proven Contract or Project Management experience
  • Demonstrable experience of managing multiple suppliers and sub-contractors
  • Demonstrable experience in preparing and submitting Monthly Claims and Financial Reporting
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise duties
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong commitment to Health & Safety initiatives
  • Ability to operate in a busy and changing environment, showing sound judgment and a professional approach

Not essential but on our desired list you may also bring with you:
  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent in Infrastructure or Civil Engineering.
  • Have experience in collaborative contracting including open book models or Alliancing.
