The Great Bear project is a development-stage asset located in the renowned and prolific Red Lake mining district, and represents one of the most exciting recent gold discoveries globally. The project has excellent potential to become a top-tier deposit that could support a large, long-life mine complex. Kinross' comprehensive exploration and development program will aim to support the vision of a quality, high-grade, open-pit mine and a longer-term, sizeable underground mine.

Job Description

You will be responsible for monitoring activities in the environmental department to ensure compliance with environmental regulations at the Kinross Great Bear site.

Job Responsibilities

• Collect and monitor environmental data (surface water, ground water, air & noise, and acid rock drainage); organize and coordinate logistics for field programs in collaboration with external consultants.
• Organize and carry out sampling schedules for all environmental programs including external laboratory audits.
• Maintain accurate data and test results in accordance with Government sampling and monitoring criteria .
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and extended hours in order to facilitate field baseline programs.
• Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation and commitment to satisfy our operation's goal of being accident-free.
• Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Post secondary education in a related field and a minimum of 2-3 years technical experience in the environmental field and/or in the mining industry.

Skills

• Familiar with Occupational Health and Safety Act and Environmental legislation
• Capable of learning and adapting to new equipment and software
• Comprehends and is able to interpret technical language

This position is located in Red Lake, ON. In this role, you will work a 5x2.
