Overview / Responsibilities

Wood has an opportunity for a Field Piping Engineer to work on a gold mine construction site located near Gogama, ON. Reporting to the Office Engineering Manager, this role will be responsible for providing construction support on major EPC/EPCM projects. This is a fly-in/fly-out position with current rotation of 14 x 14 (12 hours per day).

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Mechanical Piping contractors, engineers, technicians, technologists and project site team
  • Provide site piping engineering support for utility, site facilities and services, including buried and overland process piping, pumping stations,
  • Provide engineering site support for piping (including interface with other services etc.)
  • Provide engineering site support for underground utilities (including fire water, potable water, force mains, sanitary sewer for mine and heavy industrial facilities)
  • Provide engineering site support for surface run facilities including pipelines
  • Coordinate and support home office for design changes


Skills / Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Technology Diploma with related mine experience
  • Eligible for registration with Professional Engineers of Ontario, PEO
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in large-scale construction projects including underground and surface utilities with value greater than $10M is preferred
  • Self-starter and with a willingness to learn and experience
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal)
  • Ability to produce drawings using CAD software (predominately in AutoCAD) would be an advantage
  • Experience with 3D design/drafting software would be an advantage
  • Experience in Mineral Mining projects will be an advantage
  • Authorization to work in Canada lawfully without sponsorship from Wood is required
