The Opportunity

Reporting to the Operations Manager Process & Logistics the role of Superintendent is to lead the Structural Remediation Maintenance team in the maintenance of structures, plant, and infrastructure overseeing compliance to the safety standards, work schedules, work methods and defined processes to achieve optimal maintenance and operational outcomes.

This role is a 4:3 Roster, FIFO Darwin, or Cairns on a full-time ongoing basis.

Accountabilities :

Primary responsibilities are but not limited to:

• Ensure optimal management of the department through the effective and efficient application of policies and procedures, business systems, human and financial resources aligned to South32 standard business processes
• Oversees and provides guidance in the execution of the work schedule and shutdown schedules and minimise business interruption any unscheduled work requirements
• Endorses, leads the implementation, and monitors the effectiveness of improvement initiatives within the Structural Remediation team
• Build cross-functional relationships with the Operational sub-functions to support the delivery of the remediation program and risk reduction outcomes
• Foster and strengthen the liaison and relationship between the Structural Remediation team and the Engineering team to deliver effective quality and engineering compliant outcomes
• Guide the involvement of Project Managers, Planners and Supervisors in the Operation's planning processes to ensure the remediation work plans are integrated into the Operational plans
• Coordinate the forward planning and development of future work plans and the associated budget submissions to ensure the work is executable in line with the business endorsed risk reduction profile

Experience required

• Ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences ( e.g., management , technical specialists, vendors, and operators)
• Direct work experience (at least 5 years) of relevant Supervisory or superintendent experience
• Experience in the Mining or Heavy Industry environment is desired
• Business Improvement training and Business Case Development experience
• Vendor negotiation knowledge
• SAP maintenance understanding and basic use
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings
• Processing plant and Port infrastructure knowledge
• Structural Fabrication knowledge
• Mechanical and Structural maintenance aptitude
• Contractor management

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or trade qualification in a maintenance related field
