About the role

We are looking for IT Project Managers who will play a key, hands-on role in the end-to-end planning and delivering of our technology projects for our customers (product groups and functions). These roles are a great opportunity for collaborative, ownership mindset Project Managers to join IS&T and be part of the transformation journey. These roles are accountable for ensuring each project is delivering within the agreed metrics and thresholds for budget, schedule, quality, and risk.

Our ITProject Managers will lead a diverse team of delivery resources to deliver the required outcomes of the project.

Reporting to the Manager Delivery AMPS/Major Projects/HSE and working in a collaborative and exciting environment within our APAC East PMO team, you will:
  • Foster a culture of inclusiveness and collaboration leading, coaching and nurturing a blended team of PMO resources, subcontractors and outsourced partners to deliver IS&T projects for Rio Tinto.
  • Build and sustain a team culture of care, curiosity and courage, phycological safety, accountability and an ownership mindset, excellence, teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement through leading by example every day.
  • Ensure the building and strengthening of working relationships with team members and key stakeholders to foster a culture of shared knowledge and common processes.
  • Work within a matrix organization to enable the delivery of results aligning to business outcomes.
  • Incorporate safety in our everyday work.
  • Perform the key project disciplines to ensure successful delivery of projects.
  • Oversee 3rd party engagements and work closely with PMO resources and procurement to ensure effective vendor / supplier engagement.
  • Knowledge of Waterfall, Hybrid and Agile delivery methods with experience of when to apply each method.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
  • Proven ability to lead and support diverse teams in an IT Project Manager role.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Relevant project management certification/qualification.
  • Experience managing third party vendors to achieve project outcomes.
  • Positive outlook with a growth mindset.
  • An understanding of governance and risk in relation to IT projects.

It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • Familiarity with the application of HSE principles in the design of solutions and execution of projects in the field.
  • Experience facilitating the effective delivery of organizational wide technology changes.
