About the role

We are looking for a Commercial Treasury Manager to join our commercial treasury team in Singapore.

This role will be our key global treasury partner and advisor to Rio Tinto product groups particularly across commercial stakeholders.

Reporting to Director Commercial Treasury Manager, in this role you will:
  • Act as the key global treasury partner and advisor to Rio Tinto product groups, commercial functions, strategic business entities, and Finance Business Partners collaborating across organisational stakeholders in Finance, Treasury, Global Services, Legal and Tax.
  • Provide day to day advisory and banking/financial market expertise support to the business
  • Develop strategies and lead evaluation, structuring, and execution of cash management & trade finance solutions to optimize business cashflows and drive commercial value across the financial supply chain in support of business objectives.
  • Responsible for developing further RMB capability in Rio Tinto and lead in the management of trade finance bank relationships in China
  • Responsible for Trade & Supply Chain Financing: identifying needs, advising on sources of funding, delivery of bank services and ensuring adequate bank facilities are in place to meet the needs of the business
  • Risk management: identifying, analysing, and mitigating against financial risks, assisting in, or leading risk management activities.
  • Support RTs digital transformation journey with customers, partners, and vendors by providing competitive banking, payments, financing, and Fintech solutions to support business growth while managing risks.
  • Supporting the underlying business as a source of treasury management expertise: understanding how the business works.
  • Drive and lead project management that require cross-group collaboration, distilling complex concepts into clear components, and developing views and recommendations
  • As a senior treasury expert, advises and supports Treasury leadership in building a fit for purpose Treasury Vision and future state


About you

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Minimally a bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or equivalent
  • MBA, CTP, CPA/CA, AMCT, CTFP or similar preferred
  • At least 10 years of progressive banking and treasury management experience in a large multinational organisation
  • Displays strong leadership qualities, a team player with the ability to work independently in a fluid and sometimes ambiguous environment; capable of adjusting in both day-to-day and large-scale activities based on new information and developments
  • Experience in running strategic business priorities that requires collaborating and working across multiple functions, stakeholders, and senior management
  • Experience in cross border trade finance & working capital solutions, including understanding of trade and supply chain financing operations and facilities (such as LCs, Open Account, Bank Guarantees)
  • Established Treasury expertise of complex international cash management practises, banking/ financing structures and treasury risk management of volatile financial markets.
  • Experience in implementing treasury transformation initiatives, able to initiate and champion change and is familiar with shared service model
  • Proven ability to meet or manage deadlines while working on multiple projects
  • Risk-oriented and experienced in identifying control deficiencies and implementing mitigating controls/processes
  • Demonstrated experience in prioritising and working through a networked organisation in achieving results

It would also be beneficial if you have:
  • Working knowledge in Mandarin Chinese due to business needs to work with projects and stakeholders in China
  • Held leadership roles of significant scope
