About the role

We are looking for an Administrative Assistant to join the ODS team. to provide a range of support services including document preparation, data entry, customer service, payroll, scheduling of workforce, training records, and other related duties. The role is based in Labrador City, NL.

Reporting to the Manager and working in an exciting and unique environment within the Iron Ore Company of Canada, you will:
  • Work safely in accordance with Rio Tinto safety standards actively engaging in safety initiatives and promoting our Zero harm safety culture;
  • Perform data entry to ensure accurate information is promptly captured in appropriate information systems.
  • Accurately maintain manpower, overtime and records.
  • Provide payroll and administrative support for supervisors.
  • Establish and maintain office filing systems, files and records; assemble information upon request; direct other employees in file maintenance procedures.

Please note: Fly-in-fly-out arrangements are not available. Relocation assistance is provided if applicable.

What youll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team;
  • Diploma or Certificate in Business Administration
  • Proficient in MS Office applications and SAP
  • Ability to work cooperatively and productively with others to achieve results.
  • Effective organization and prioritization skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Experience with workforce scheduling, in a unionized environment, is an asset

Where youll be working

The Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC) is a leading Canadian producer of iron ore concentrate and iron ore pellets that serves customers worldwide. The company operates a mine, a concentrator and a pelletizing plant in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as port facilities in Sept-les, Quebec. It also operates a 418 kilometer railroad that links the mine to the port.
