About the role

We are seeking an experienced Contract Administrator to supervise and oversee RT Major Projects contract management and procurement activities, to assist in the achievement of projects completion safely, on time, within budget compliant with quality requirements all whilst ensuring the protection of the commercial interests of Rio Tinto by:
  • Leading contract negotiations and terms agreements and working with parties to address concerns and resolve disputes
  • Developing conditions for bids, proposals, and contracts
  • Reviewing and contributing to the development of project contracting strategies and plans
  • Ensuring contracts and other documents comply with RT procedures, relevant regulations, laws, and industry standards
  • Evaluating contract and risk management documents and making sound decisions on their administration and enforcement
  • Participating in the assessment and selection of the key suppliers
  • Managing the bidding process between contractors and suppliers to secure the best offers
  • Monitoring a project's budget, expenses, payment terms, and other financial obligations
  • Supervising, administering, and reporting on the contractual aspects of contracts
  • Providing advice and recommendations on the application of contracting policies, local and regional federal laws, and regulations pertinent to procurement and contracting situations

What you'll bring
  • Candidates must be bilingual (French-English)
  • Knowledge in commercial laws, regulations, policies, and procedures governing purchasing and contracting activities
  • Ability to work well within a team and influence other stakeholders
  • Effective time management skills, detail oriented and the ability to manage complex tasks in a multi-tasking environment
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking with strong numerical ability, good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Experience with SAP and ARIBA is a plus
  • Degree in Business Administration, Law, Engineering or a combination of work and education in Contract Administration.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in procurement and contracts, with significant exposure to capital projects across the end-to-end contract lifecycle
  • MBA is a plus

Where you'll be working

Rio Tinto Project Services is a global functional team that provides integrated project controls and contracts and procurement services for Rio Tinto Projects. The project controls function provides planning/ scheduling, cost control, change management and forecasting, analyses and reporting to Rio Tinto Projects' studies and execution projects.
