We are looking for a Purchase to Pay - Expeditor to support business operations through the provision of business support services from master data maintenance, through to the purchasing and payment of goods and services.

Services include:

Purchase requisition conversion

Purchase order maintenance

Purchase order status check

Overdue order management

Reporting to the Superintendent Buy Africa you will be responsible for the following:
  • Coordinate the procurement and expedite activities for Rio Tinto Africa assets in collaboration with the wider Johannesburg Buy team.
  • Responsible for providing detailed and useful feedback on overdue and outstanding purchase order supplier performance.
  • Respond to asset urgent expediting request within 24 hours
  • Act as an interface with the vendors supplying goods and services into the Africa Asset, the Expeditor will actively manage relationships with Business Unit
  • Monitor vendor site access communication from Africa Asset Procurement Business Partners and keep Buyers informed.
  • Coordinate the movement of materials to the Africa Assets, through good written and verbal communications to vendors supplying goods and or services and providing internal feedback.
  • Actively engage with Buy and Sourcing team members for issue resolution and escalations.
  • Report on identified poor supplier performance trends.
  • In addition, the Expeditor may be required to further support the P2P Buy functions through providing transactional Buy support.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • Commercial, engineering, supply or related degree, or commensurate commercial acumen gained in the purchasing and/or business process improvement environments.
  • Basic knowledge of cataloguing processes, standards and methodologies
  • At least 2 years of experience in the Mining or Heavy Industries environment in the Expediting role
  • Good understanding of mining goods supply market
  • Basic knowledge of SAP Materials Management
  • Comprehensive competency in the use of MS Office software including Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Working knowledge of procurement and supply chain management
  • Basic knowledge of cross border logistics across the African region
