About the role

We are looking for an Electrical Construction Coordinator- Projects to support a variety of moderate to major sized projects and studies across the Kennecott Copper business. The role will support and report through the Projects and Engineering team located at the Cooperton Concentrator

This role is a great opportunity to be involved in the planning and delivery of projects from initiation to completion, and focused on achieving objectives through managing resources, budgets, changes, and risks. Projects may be capital or expense projects, functional or cross-functional projects or related to broad business improvement initiatives. You will be:
  • Providing support to Projects & Engineering to manage/coordinate electrical and control systems project activities in the field.
  • Planning relevant safety requirements into all activities, tasks, and projects based on assessed hazards, identifying critical risks, and mitigating actions
  • Contributing through applying technical/professional knowledge to solve complex problems and recommend solutions.
  • Developing, maintaining, and implementing engineering standards for technical drawings, equipment, installation practices, and workmanship for all Electrical and Instrumentation projects.
  • Keeping abreast of all technical, legal, contractual, and legislative advances and changes in Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering which may impact the Company
  • Ensuring site compliance with the electrical engineering standards and reviewing the standards on a regular basis.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or another relevant related technical field
  • Project management certification or advance project management training
  • 5 to 10 years of progressively responsible experience in project management experience in heavy industry
  • Experience with computer system applications, including Word, Excel, MS Project
  • Strong written and verbal communication skill

To succeed in this role, you will have:
  • Broad understanding of program & project management, project controls, business improvement, contract management, risk management & change management
  • Knowledge of Project based software tools and systems

Our Kennecott mine is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining operation, including a concentrator, smelter and refinery, located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. We produce copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich ore body of the Bingham Canyon Mine since 1903, and is one of the top producing mines in the world, comprising approximately 11 percent of U.S. annual copper production.
