Reporting to the Lead, Health and Safety, the Senior Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the continual improvement, development, implementation, and alignment of the Coal Business Unit (BU) Health and Safety Management Systems. This role will focus on High Potential Risk Control, in particular Work Team Risk Assessments, Incident Cause Analysis Methods (ICAMs) and the Avalanche Management Program.

To be successful, we are looking for someone with strong interpersonal, and communication skills, who can present information to all levels of the organization. This person is a team player with a positive 'can-do' attitude, and can work with minimal direction.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Support alignment between operations and the BU, by incorporating EHS Safety Management systems/process, SP&P’s, policies, procedures into the daily operations
  • Manage the Teck Coal Avalanche Management Program
  • Facilitate Work Team Risk Assessments and Effectiveness Reviews and ICAM Investigations across operations
  • Conduct Health and Safety field evaluations, inspections, and effectiveness reviews; facilitate safety audits and communicate company compliance


Qualifications:
  • Degree or Diploma in Health, Safety, or Hygiene or related field considered an asset
  • Minimum five years in mining, or operational experience in construction or other heavy industry
  • A CRSP/CSP designation or in process of attaining
  • Certification, or willingness to acquire certification, in Avalanche Skills Training (AST) Level 1 or 2 is an asset
