About the role

We are looking for a Shutdown Coordinator to work closely with and in support of the Project Team and Owners Team. This coordinator will oversee and coordinate project-work activities in the execution of planning and integration with operations, construction, permitting, quality assurance, pre-commissioning, and commissioning. Also, coordinate day-to-day work scope between other contractor teams and active operations.

Key Deliverables:
  • Ensure successful and safe execution of projects through detailed planning and understanding of the hot and gas cleaning areas by following the scopes of work in compliance with the following:
    • HSE standards and programs
    • Contractor Management standards
    • Permitting processes
    • Construction Contract scope, schedule, and cost
    • Engineering and Design specifications and quality
  • Support the project team in the development and execution of the following:
    • HSE and Contractor Management documentation
    • Scope of Work documents
    • Project Execution Plan documents
    • Quality Assurance/Commissioning Execution Plan documents
    • Quality Assurance/Commissioning forms and documentation
    • Construction, Pre-commissioning, and Commissioning Schedules

What you'll bring

Required Education / Experience:
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Heavy Industrial Project Management or Equivalent Construction Experience
  • Extensive experience in mechanical and piping fabrication and installation
  • Regulated work area procedures and standards
  • Critical Risk Management and practices
  • Experience in Construction, Quality Assurance, Pre-commissioning and Commissioning

Desired Skill Sets:
  • Industrial construction work management and field experience
  • Extensive knowledge of welding processes and techniques
  • Industrial construction work management; Piping, pumps, precipitator, fiber-reinforced plastic, civil, mechanical, electrical, etc
  • Knowledge of non-destructive testing processes
  • Experience in issuing work permits
  • Experience in Confined Space Entry management
  • Experience in performing work inside Sulfuric Acid areas and equipment. Hydrofluoric Acid is plus
  • Experience in using specialized PPE i-e, sulfuric acid resistant PPE, supply air respirators, full-face respirators, full-body harness and lanyards, trauma straps, and Tyvek suits for extended time periods
  • Strong conflict resolution skills and incident management
  • Experience in management and coordinating work with stakeholders and contractors

Where you'll be working

Our Kennecott mine is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining operation, including a concentrator, smelter and refinery, located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. We produce copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich ore body of the Bingham Canyon Mine since 1903 and is one of the tops producing mines in the world, comprising approximately 11 percent of U.S. annual copper production.
