THE ROLE
A great opportunity for a Full-Time Permanent position has become available for an experienced Project Procurement Manager to join our team based in the North Ryde, Sydney office.

Here at Downer our Procurement Team specialise in strategising, negotiating and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships with over 25,000+ suppliers spanning across various categories.

Reporting to the GM Project Sourcing you will be responsible for leading the procurement on some of our major bids and projects across the Downer Group. This will include although not limited to:
  • Understanding the needs within the project and to develop and manage the procurement strategies to ensure value for money, high levels of service, on budget and compliance with procedures and professional best practice.
  • To manage the procurement RFx sourcing activities for the project in connection with Project team and SME's.
  • Manage the evaluation of RFx responses against a set of pre-defined criteria, including management of cross-functional stakeholder groups.
  • Work with the commercial team on the creation of contracts incorporating all negotiated points, assessing risks, developing appropriate performance measures and Service Level Agreements are embedded into the contract in line with Legal requirements.
  • Provide weekly reporting on the status of the procurement activities and maintain the procurement register for the project.
  • Contribute to analysing current and future market activities, trends and identifying sourcing opportunities for RFx

ABOUT YOU
You will have an advanced knowledge of procurement practices and driving value from vendors coupled with excellent influencing and negotiation skills. Your ability to build relationships with a range of stakeholders will see you succeed in this role.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Engineering &/or Financial Degree preferred
  • Preferable, Post Graduate studies Procurement, Logistics &/or Supply Chain.
  • Tertiary Qualified in a Business/Commercial related degree
  • 3 to 5 years' experience as a Procurement Category/ Contracts / Commercial Role/s
  • Experience in managing procurement within major construction projects

  • Good Communication, presentation and influencing skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong problem solving / solutions development skills
  • Ability to manage cross functional teams and stakeholder groups
  • Ability to drive change across the business.
  • Ability to work to long term road maps with numerous projects running concurrently
  • Ability to travel to support project need
  • Police check and pre-employment medical (to be completed during recruitment process)
