Our client is a well-known and well-capitalized precious metals producer with a healthy portfolio of operating mines and development projects across North America. They require a Vice President of Technical Services in their Toronto HQ to provide leadership and direction to mine site technical staff, ensuring the use of best practices, and accountability for achieving production targets and good cost management. This role will report to the current Chief Operations Officer and the ideal candidate should have the capacity and desire to step into this role in a few years.

Responsibilities
- Management of all activities related to mine design, scheduling, metallurgy, life of mine plans and technical reporting across our client's asset portfolio.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the Production and Engineering site leadership.
- Collaborate and coordinate with internal/and external team members to ensure the technical needs of the sites/projects are met.
- Be involved as early as possible with all projects to ensure they are planned and built to expectations and plans.
- Carry out technical assessment activities with respect to M&A activities
- Drive goal setting and the strategic planning process so that all aspects of Operations and programs are achieved.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Support the preparation of operating and capital budgets.
- Participate in awarding of key equipment and service contracts at the operations.
- Assess risks, develop procedures, and ensure internal controls are in place and operate effectively for all production operations.
Skills & Qualifications
- Professional engineer designation.
- A track record of success developing and advancing existing mine operations
- Strong knowledge of global mine operations and all phases of mine planning, construction, feasibility, and expansion.
- Fluency in Spanish and English is a major asset.
- Ability to interface well at all levels, both at site and with senior management in the corporate office.
- Ability to quickly build credibility to gain confidence from all levels.
- Excellent proven communications skills and experience in delivering presentations to multiple levels of management, to a multi-cultural workforce and other stakeholders such as investors.
- Competency in budgeting, production forecasting, asset planning, cost control and analytical reporting
- Experience leading and integrating cross-functional teams, strategies, and plans to achieve business success
- Demonstrated ability to lead and embrace operational and internal system change.
- Extensive practical experience in multi-discipline mining and processing operations
- Outstanding professional reputation for delivering against environmental, health and safety standards
