As our surface equipment operator, you will operate heavy equipment to haul and place tails/waste material to keep our production going and our profitability up. Every day you will work at a mine site on a remote island about 18 miles outside of Juneau, Alaska. You’ll start every day with safety first by doing a pre-op on your equipment before operating and report any maintenance issues. You will be called upon to assist maintenance in work, adapt plans, and convey project statuses to team members. To thrive in this role, you must operate large tractor trucks with trailers, dump trucks, loaders, dozers, forklifts, backhoes, and excavators in any weather condition. We’re on a remote island, you must know how to work independently.

  • Working on a remote island and living in a mining camp environment away from home. Every department is slightly different, but our surface operations department works 14 days for 12.5 hours each, followed by 14 days off.
  • You’ll work on civil projects such as environmental remediation, earth moving, sediment control, and other projects.
  • Safety is important. Every piece of equipment and each work area must be inspected before we start the day for your safety and the safety of your team.
  • You’ll need to get TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Clearance) to assume this role, and must be able to pass a background screening.
