Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior CSA Field Engineer to build our capability and work closely with our client, Enter Engineering, on the Copper Concentrator project in Uzbekistan. Almalyksky GMK (AGMK) is to build a new copper processing plant (MOF-3) as part of the project "Development of the Yoshlik-1" deposit in Almalyk, Uzbekistan. The processing plant will treat ore from a copper-molybdenum deposit and the annual Run-of-Mine ore to be mined and processed is 60 million metric tons. Wood has been appointed as engineering subcontractor to develop Basic Engineering, Detail Engineering, Procurement support services, and technical assistance during construction.

This position has responsibility to provide onsite engineering support and technical coordination between Wood design offices and the Enter Engineering construction teams. This position requires strong technical and management skills. The candidate shall be comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment providing civil and structural engineering expertise in the mining and minerals industry. Responsibilities:
  • Provide field engineering assistance, inspections and checks to facilitate construction works. Ensure resolution of all site raised technical and engineering queries
  • Provide civil and structural technical coordination of field engineering queries between Wood and Enter Engineering
  • Review engineering deliverables and the 3D model developed and prepared by Wood and raise potential issues that may impact construction progress
  • Participate in reviews to ensure alignment with supplier's/contractor's scope, acceptance criteria and interfacing with work completed by Wood
  • Understand the requirements of the project scope and schedule
  • Conflict resolution of scope and technical detail between parties to ensure compromise and alignment is reached
  • Provide technical assistance to Enter Engineering so that the intent and requirements of the civil and structural engineering detail design, scope of work documents and specifications are met on site
  • Provide alignment between the design specifications and the locally available materials of construction
  • Work closely with the global Wood offices and the client team to develop and deliver the project
  • Resolve design issues if they do not meet required site safety standards and actively participate in safety reviews
  • Provide positive input and demonstrated leadership on HSSE and Quality Assurance issues within your area of responsibility


Skills / Qualifications

  • Qualified in Civil & Structural engineering from a recognized institution
  • Fluent in English and Russian
  • Minimum of 8 years Civil & Structural design and field experience in the Mining and Minerals industry within the project and engineering field
  • Experience in providing onsite or field civil and structural engineering support services to construction
  • Knowledge of applicable Uzbekistan design codes, standards and regulations will be an advantage
  • Knowledge of Russian GOST standards will be an advantage.
  • Willingness to be based in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) and/or Almalyk MOF-3 project site.
