Job Details

Reporting to the Chief Mine Geologist, the Senior Mine Geologist will be responsible for the supervision of the Geology Department staff in a positive and productive manner. As this is a start-up operation, the successful candidate must have a strong focus on employee development and mentoring.

MAGINO MINE:

The Magino Project is a brown-fields site located in northern Ontario, Canada that contains an historical underground gold mine, landfill and tailings management facility ("TMF"). The Corporation has conducted a Feasibility Study during 2017 that examined mining the deposit using conventional open pit mining methods and extraction of gold from the ore using a 10,000 tonnes per day carbon-in-pulp ("CIP") mineral processing facility. When developed, Magino will produce around 150,000 ounces of gold during the first five years of production. The project has over a 15-year mine production life (including one year of pre-production).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Foster and promote a culture of safe work practices.
  • Manage site databases and related GIS systems.
  • Participate in the coordination and development of all mine geology and ore control activities.
  • Assist in the development of, and provide accurate grade control models as well as resource-reserve reports.
  • Assist with the development of the reconciliation system.
  • Lead and assist with the development of mine geology related work including mapping, drilling, sampling, and reconciliation.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A degree in Geology or relevant field with open pit experience is required.
  • Solid experience in grade control modelling and ore control systems, including RC drilling.
  • Database & QA/QC experience with excellent computer skills and mining software knowledge ( MinePlan is a requirement and SQL is an asset).
  • QP or QP eligible preferred .

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • The role is located at the Magino Mine, which is approximately 88 kilometres northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Canada.
  • The ideal candidate for the role will work a flexible rotation (10 hour shifts).
