About this role

Technical Services provides global support to Newmont and its operating businesses across a range of niche technical functions. Within Technical Services, the Asset Management (AM) function is responsible for creating and implementing effective global asset strategies, as well as delivering efficient asset planning and strategic insights to drive exceptional global asset performance across Newmont's portfolio. It aims to ensure that Newmont's asset management processes and capabilities are a source of sustainable and driven advantage for Newmont. This is achieved by focusing on business process standardization, proactive teamwork, competency and capability development, maintenance and reliability practices, relevant global productivity metrics and targeted value-adding asset lifecycle cost improvements. The AM function is focused on delivering value aligned with our philosophy of continuous improvement and rapid replication.

The Technical Governance and Support Services function is responsible for the creation, management, and communication of AM standards and technical documents, and for establishing rules and controls to drive their global awareness and compliance within AM and the broader organization. The Principal Advisor, Technical Governance and Support Services leads this function, provides strategic and domain expertise in the initial engagement of major capital projects and asset investments, and deals with all matters of strategic planning, coordination, performance and monitoring of technical support services for the AM organization, such as technical writing, drafting and document management.

Key outcomes include:

Fundamentally changing Newmont's approach to the governance and management of AM standards, technical requirements and documents by implementing a global framework and operating model that supports centralized AM and the broader organization.

Clearly defined and communicated strategic direction and effective oversight of all AM technical content and information aligned to business objectives and requirements.

Fully embedded AM standards and technical requirements in the selection, design, operation, maintenance and disposal of assets and infrastructure.

Established as a key advisor to leaders within AM and across the organization in the areas of AM standards and requirements, and their impact on asset and infrastructure lifecycles.

Your role will consist of

Health and Safety
• Demonstrate proactive leadership in achieving a global Newmont culture of safety and health
• Actively promote Newmont's safety standards and improvement initiatives
Strategy and Management
• Establish Technical Governance and Support Services department's strategic objectives; develop tactical plans to meet set goals; lead high level execution of plans; and accurately supervise performance and report progress
• Lead the design and implementation of the department's Management Operating System including applicable processes, roles and responsibilities, and systems
• Lead the development and ongoing management of the Corporate AM budget
• Implement global talent management for technical writing, knowledge management and technical coordinators including identifying and addressing training needs
• Provide coaching, mentorship, and development for direct reports
Governance and Engagement
• Lead the definition, management, compliance and continuous improvement of the AM Technical Governance framework
• Provide strategic and technical guidance to the global portfolio of major capital projects and asset investments with the early identification of AM requirements and risks, and the definition of additional technical support by the central AM organization.
• Collaborate with the Risk Management System function to ensure alignment to and compliance with the global governance framework for documentation and risk management.
• Recommend and coordinate the allocation of resources with AM leadership as vital to support investment reviews and capital projects activities.
Technical Definition
• Work with AM, regional, and site leadership, as well as relevant partner groups, to gather requirements for existing technical knowledge base, align on priorities for documentation development, and to coordinate the allocation of resources and domain expertise
• Provide guidance, direction, and subject matter expertise to teams leading the definition, development, and improvement of user documentation
• Guide, control and recommend final approval of global technical documentation ensuring consistency and alignment across fields, and that applicable controls, and internal and industry codes and standards are properly considered.
Knowledge and Document Management
• Provide guidance and strategic direction to team members responsible for document development, technical writing, document management, management of drafting services, and knowledge sharing.
• Implement and handle documentation QA/QC strategy to ensure AM technical document content meet established Newmont standards, as well as any other applicable regulatory requirements
• Establish, manage, and improve the AM knowledge sharing and document flow framework; lead compliance efforts to ensure all relevant content is properly stored, maintained, and easily accessible
• Partner with AM Global Systems to set up, administrate, and maintain global information and document management software and solutions

Knowledge:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, or equivalent work experience
Multidisciplinary technical exposure to various engineering fields such as electrical, mechanical, piping, controls, civil, and structural
Strong competence and broad knowledge of industry and engineering standards and codes is required

Experience:
10+ years of proven experience in industry, with both asset management and flagship project experience preferred.
Prior experience in project engineering management and/or global governance roles preferred.
Successful track record developing and managing global technical standards and guidance.
Demonstrated history of leading fast-paced, multi-disciplined, diverse teams.
Confirmed use of change, communication, and knowledge management methodologies.

Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to drive performance improvement initiatives in a global organization.
Proven team leadership ability using effective coaching, mentoring, individual development, performance metrics, and team motivational techniques.
Ability to quickly assess information to diagnose problems and opportunities, with a track record of strong professional judgment and critical thinking.
Ability to lead global teams and oversee people/tasks, both in-person and virtually.

Working conditions and location

Where you will be located!

The position is considered remote and qualified candidates in proximity to one of our offices or operations are encouraged to apply. Relocation to Denver or Perth may be considered.
Flexible hours are required to accommodate the global nature of the work.
Travel may be required to domestic and international Newmont sites.

The salary range offered for this role is $130,320 - 171,045. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance. This role also will be eligible for participation in a discretionary long-term incentive program, pursuant to which an employee may receive awards based on their level and individual performance.
