A 6-month internship opportunity (with the possibility to extend to 1 year) starting in June 2022 for a current post-secondary student. Reporting to the regional Talent Management and Inclusion & Diversity Manager, the HR Intern will support Newmont's North America Regional Talent Management and Inclusion & Diversity team. This is a great opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge on talent management and I&D initiatives and projects at a global company.

In addition to supporting day-to-day general Talent Management and Inclusion & Diversity responsibilities, the Intern, HR will also be in contributing to the delivery of programs and projects in this field. Exact projects will be established according to skills, experience, and specific business needs.

What you will do:

This is a full-time paid position (37.5 hours/week). The exact start and end dates of this opportunity are flexible depending on the candidate's availability and our business needs.
  • Assist the Talent Management, Inclusion & Diversity team in various strategic and operational activities, i.e. support activities and projects within Talent Management, Talent Development, and Diversity & Inclusion
  • Support the Performance Management and Talent Review and Succession process within the North America region by working on communications, reporting and presentations
  • Support the project management of actions to progress inclusion and diversity in the region
  • Develop and sustain reports to inform different stakeholders about the different talent management programs
  • Gather and compile talent data and create visual overviews using our digital platforms (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Support communication around talent and inclusion & diversity projects and initiatives by drafting communication materials and visuals
  • Develop and organize relevant documents related to our Talent and I&D projects and initiatives

Working conditions:

  • The position is located at the North America Regional Office in Vancouver, BC with a hybrid schedule and remote/flexible work arrangements


Training Experience:

  • Current enrolment in a post-secondary program with a focus on Human Resources, Business, Data Analytics, or another related discipline
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PPT and Outlook)
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel including the ability to use the following functions: pivot tables, vlookups and formulas
  • Prior internship experience preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfort engaging with senior leaders and global teams
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team
  • Strong planning skills with an ability to juggle multiple projects
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail and dedication to delivering high quality work on time
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism and confidentiality
  • Strong research methods and capability and writing skills
  • Authorized to legally work full-time in Canada
