Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) Implementation, the Senior Specialist, Governance and Assurance, EAM (at Teck known as the Governance and Assurance) is responsible for managing the governance of maintenance business processes and proactively evaluating our assurance controls. This important role also supports the development of remediation actions and process improvement plans.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Own the deployment of a framework that facilitates site work process improvements and assurance of standard site work practices
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate assurance activities for best-in-class business practices and processes in collaboration with Teck Maintenance, Strategy and other groups
  • Manage the development and application of governance and assurance practices on enterprise-wide maintenance business processes and supporting systems, including existing and future EAM systems
  • Develop and manage performance metrics, reporting requirements and controls verifications program
  • Develop and maintain Annual Assurance Plans, reporting, and execution
  • Build proficiency and training for assurance, including conducting workshops at operating sites and supporting gap-closing initiatives
  • Co-ordinate assurance audits and peer assist reviews at sites
  • Perform QA/QC, identify areas of improvement and support sites to identify solutions
  • Analyze incident data for performance reporting and/or for compliance verification planning purposes or as requested by other teams
  • Support process optimization and standardization in maintenance and supply chain areas


Qualifications:
  • Degree in a related field, such as Engineering or Business Administration; or a relevant Diploma or Certification with meaningful experience with compliance, auditing, and assurance
  • Minimum six years of experience in asset management practices, including maintenance strategy and work management and the evaluation of governance, assurance and quality control
  • Understanding of asset health management programs and applications, including fixed or mobile asset functionality and structure
  • Knowledge of the latest process improvement strategies, such as Lean Six Sigma principles
  • Technical knowledge of relevant federal and provincial legislation, standards, and effective industry practices
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite®
