Position Description:

Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Human Resources Manager at our Turquoise Ridge operations. As part of the Human Resources team, the successful candidate will be support centric adding to our already challenging, yet rewarding, environment strengthening our mining operations. The ideal candidate will possess a background as an internal subject matter expert and consultant on employee relations.

Responsibilities:

Safety:

  • Comply with State and Federal legal regulations, NGM Safety and Environmental policies and procedures
  • Attend scheduled or unscheduled safety meetings regularly
  • Complete regular safety inspections of the workplace and audit work practices
  • Inspect work areas for any conditions that are potentially hazardous to personnel or equipment
Human Resources:

  • Supports the development of a motivated and business focused culture that is built on the company's DNA.
  • Consults with site leadership, providing guidance on human resource policies and practices.
  • Supports annual processes including performance management, talent review, succession planning and compensation reviews.
  • Provides guidance on leadership development best practices and coaches and develops leaders.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day leadership of employees, ensuring legal compliance and HR best practices
  • Supports the use of consistent, quality human resource investigative processes across the organization and supports compliance with relevant State and Federal laws and regulations.
  • Provides performance management and disciplinary guidance to leadership.
  • Works closely with site leadership and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Collaborates with leadership on compensation and other terms of employment for new hires, promotions, and transfers.
  • Provides guidance and support for organizational changes.
  • Provides support for workforce and staffing plans.
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR Services group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Routinely contribute to the Human Resources reporting system.
  • Prepare presentations and deliver information to leaders and others are requiring related to HR metrics, HR predictive metrics and recommended outcomes.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this position would demonstrate the following primary knowledge, skills, and attributes:

Knowledge:

  • BS degree in HR, IR, Business, or related field; Master's Degree and/or PHR/SPHR Certification preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience resolving complex employee relations issues required
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook, etc.) required
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in mining preferred
Experience:

  • Experience in leading investigations, dispute resolution, preparing and testifying in employment law matters, and crisis management.
  • Experience in development of change strategies and employee engagement processes.
  • Project and program management - proven ability manage projects to success and mobilize resources.
  • Extensive experience consulting with managers and employees.
  • Mining, construction, utilities, or other heavy industry experience is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead at all levels of the organization, with business acumen, emotional intelligence, above average tactical skills, and stress tolerance.
  • Strong employee relations skills.
  • Working knowledge of federal/state employment law.

About Nevada Gold Mines

Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements.

The massive mining operation comprises 8 mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities that produced an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018. Three of these assets are Tier One gold mines: Barrick's Cortez; the combination of Barrick's Goldstrike and Newmont Goldcorp's Carlin; and the combination of Barrick's Turquoise Ridge and Newmont Goldcorp's Twin Creeks. In addition, Barrick's Goldrush-Fourmile project has the potential to become the fourth Tier One asset in this portfolio. The new JV is expected to generate around $5 billion in cost savings over the next five years. Nevada Gold Mines is operated by Barrick.
