Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch is seeking a qualified Senior Environmental Specialist to lead and grow its environmental services offering in Western Australia, based in Perth.

The Senior Environmental Specialist will provide input into the Australian and Asia Environmental Service Group business growth plan and will support the implementation of the plan across the Hatch Business Unit sectors of mining and metals, energy, and infrastructure. This position will operate under the general direction of the AUA Regional Environmental Lead with additional support from Hatch’s Australian and global offices.

This position will be focused on identifying business development opportunities in our WA region, expanding our skill sets in the region, and the execution of these engagements. This position will provide project management, regulatory, applied sustainability and technical expertise for engineering and environmental projects across the Project life cycle, from front-end design engineering, through pre-feasibility and detailed engineering, into construction, operations and closure.

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Apply a deep understanding of sustainability/Environmental principles to solve complex problems.
  • Develop deliverables for Projects including technical advisory services, regulatory approvals, impact assessment and detailed design support.
  • Manage projects and client’s environmental or sustainability outcomes
  • Mentor juniors in the environment team, and educate project teams around their environmental and sustainability commitments, and potential constraints.
  • Collaborate with team members across the business to identify environmental and sustainability opportunities, and potential projects.
  • Develop proposals and estimates for submission for environmental deliverables which may include, and are not limited to, impact assessments, environmental design criteria, approvals and permitting frameworks and management plans.


You will have at least 10 years’ experience and hold appropriate qualifications in an environmental/sustainability related discipline. Your considerable knowledge of either sustainability, closure, due diligence, impact assessment or environmental engineering will be complimentary to the diverse environment services group. You will be comfortable speaking with senior leaders in the business, identifying possible project and business development opportunities and engaging with external clients.
