Supply Chain Superintendent

Position Description:

Barrick is looking for a Supply Chain Superintendent to join our Hemlo team. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible to lead the Supply Chain function for the mine site. The Supply Chain Superintendent will be a safety leader responsible for providing strategic direction, and oversight of the procurement, contracting, warehousing, inventory control and logistics functions for the Hemlo Mine.

Responsibilities:

  • Build strategic partnerships with local and international vendors to ensure adequate supplies of raw materials, machinery, parts, finished goods, and services required to meet short term and operations and project requirements.
  • Responsible for sourcing and developing new suppliers, both international and local.
  • Responsible for the end-to-end contract process for goods and services.
  • Work with Group Supply Chain to develop procurement strategies based on current and long-term pricing trends for all commodities and services.
  • Oversee materials management (warehousing, transportation, customs, import/export, shipping, receiving) directing the movement of materials, ensuring optimum flow required to reach productivity/production efficiencies while maintaining cost containment measures and social responsibility requirements.
  • Oversee the Inventory Control function
  • Build strategic partnerships with customers (internal departments) ensuring acceptable service levels adhering to set operation/project schedules.
  • Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (i.e., modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value-added processes, or complete re-engineering of processes and systems).
  • Utilize tools to monitor departmental costs and cost trends, striving continuously to improve value.
  • Know and understand company code of ethics, supporting and educating the supply chain team and employees regarding the policy as appropriate.
  • Responsible for monitoring controls within respective departments ensuring all company property is adequately protected and inventoried.
  • Provide feedback to senior management on cost and cost trends through reporting.
  • Establish departmental and employee performance drivers by which to determine individual and team results (i.e., key performance indicators, training documentation, attendance records, knowledge of roles and responsibilities, personal development plans).
  • Create and amend Supply Chain policies and procedures as required.
  • Provide continual training, guidance, and mentoring of direct reports and employees ensuring all are adequately equipped, trained, knowledgeable, and able to carry out respective job requirements to reach operation/project objectives.
  • Responsible for ensuring all employee and company policies and procedures are maintained and enforced within area of responsibility. Perform other duties as assigned and required.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance or related field.
  • Minimum 8+ years relevant qualifications / experience in Contracts & Procurement, Inventory Control, Warehousing, and Logistics,
  • Previous mining, energy, or oil and gas experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop a supply chain team
  • Knowledgeable in SAP, Ariba and advanced skills in Microsoft Office tools
  • PMAC / SCMP / CIPS certification preferred
  • Ability to effectively plan, execute and deliver.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills & the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly driven and self-motivated, strong negotiation skills, conflict resolution, able to manage a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively with a team of Supply Chain professionals, as well as independently
  • Ability to multi-task, self-manage, self-motivate, lead, and motivate others.
