MINE SUPERVISOR I

Responsible for supervising mining and haulage crews to ensure proper placement of material for the copper leaching process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Achieve forecasted tonnage and copper grade for each month.


    • Provide the knowledge for subordinates to obtain necessary training to improve and develop new skills.
    • Communicate goals and key performance indicators to employees and monitor their development in accomplishing these goals.
    • Ensure required production goals are achieved at the lowest possible cost without sacrificing safety or environmental concerns.
    • Ensure that all mine equipment is operated in the most productive and cost effective manner, without sacrificing the safety and health of employees.
    • Conduct daily workplace examinations.
    • Conduct monthly equipment inspections.
    • Ensure compliance with Total Safety Culture Program.
    • Communicate goals and key performance indicators to employees and monitor their development in accomplishing these goals.
    • Track and maintain overtime distribution spreadsheet in accordance with labor contract.
    • Administer interactive management for employee-related issues.
    • Administer work procedures, department policies and labor contract language.
    • Interact with workforce and Human Resources, Safety, Purchasing, Accounting, etc. to ensure compliance with established Company policies.
    • Track and log daily Shift Log Air Permit records.
    • Input daily production reports.
    • Investigate and document accidents, equipment damage and near misses.
    • Monitor conditions for optimum tire performance.
    • Assist with daily blasting activities.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES
    • Address labor grievance issues.
    • Coordinate equipment availability with maintenance department.
    • Track CAT down time for availability guarantees.
    • Inputting daily timekeeping in MIMS.
    • MIMS requisitions.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Thorough understanding of entire mining process.
  • Thorough understanding of local, state and federal mining and environmental regulations.
  • Thorough understanding of labor contract.
  • Supervisory/leadership skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
  • Good computer skills.


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • One (1) year of college or technical school.
  • Five (5) years experience in the mining industry, including supervisory experience
