ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. Commercial production began at Meliadine in mid-May 2019 and the mine officially opened at the end of June. This mine is our largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources and we expect to operate it for at least 14 years. The site features a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Engineering Coordinators, the Underground Mine planner will perform their duties as a member of the Engineering department and collaborate with other departments of the division. The incumbent will be responsible of short-term and medium-term planning and will work on production optimization and opportunity projects. They will act as the liaison between the Engineering, Geology, Underground Mine Operations & Maintenance departments regarding all production-related activities. The Underground Mine planner will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture & Code of conduct, maintaining a high Health & Safety standard, all in respect of the environment, the work procedures in place & the industry good practices.
  • Maintain the weekly and 3 month mine plan using Deswik and the available planning tools;
  • Issue the forecast planning exercise each quarter, along with the gold production/Mill-feed and update the related KPIs;
  • Compile and verify the production data in Centric, along with the other production database tracking tools;
  • Issue the different production actuals compilations, KPI's and adherence to planning reports;
  • Constantly communicate with Geology, Mine operations & Maintenance team to ensure compliance to the planning;
  • Align the priorities with the Drill and Blast team, the Underground survey team and the design technicians;
  • Communicate with the Long-range planners to include LOM vision in the 3-month and forecast plan;
  • Lead the design review meetings for lateral development and general level design;
  • Verify and comment Lateral development and Drill & Blast layouts, and make sure they are within the operating standard of the division and the industry best practices;
  • Contribute the various improvement initiatives in safety and productivity within the department, and with the external groups within the division;


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a Technical diploma, with relevant experience related to underground mining;
  • 3+ years of experience in mining operations;
  • 1 year experience in underground planning is an asset;
  • Member of a Canadian Engineering society and/or eligible for NAPEG license;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint, knowledge of Deswik is an asset;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on the SPEEXX English language assessment.

Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
