Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Superintendent, Improvement.Due to anticipated needs, we are currently recruiting for a career oriented individual to fill this role.

Red Dog Operations is a fly-in / fly-out camp with flexibility for one of two rotation schedules for this management role. Either (2) weeks on-site and (1) week off-site rotation OR 5 days work by 2 days off, where you fly to the Red Dog Mine on Monday, fly out Thursday work Friday and have the weekends off.

Reporting to the Manager, Integrated Operations & Improvement, the Superintendent, Improvement (“Superintendent”) is responsible to manage the development and implementation of business improvement initiatives and govern the continuous improvement process across the site.

Responsibilities :
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Oversee implementation of business improvement (BI) initiatives across site and collaborate with BI initiative owners to develop and execute work plans
  • Oversee implementation site Integrated Operations Systems (IOS) routines and facilitate coaching to support and drive compliance to IOS standards. Coordinate periodic audits of IOS routines to confirm sustainment. Ensure site IOS aligns with Teck Base Metal strategy
  • Govern the continuous improvement (CI) process from ideation to prioritization of initiatives. Ensure opportunities are evaluated in alignment with Teck’s vision to transform the operation through use of digital tools, advance analytics, advanced process control and automation in order to achieve optimal processing conditions and maximizing asset value
  • Manage the monitoring of improvement initiatives (using PIPware and KPI’s) and support regular updates for Managers/Supts
  • Responsible for the site change management program in alignment with Teck standards and to ensure improvement initiatives have effective change management plans
  • Ensure site capital budgets, annual operating budgets and forecast processes capture and incorporate improvement projects in planning
  • Support the team development including, assessment of performance, professional development discussions, identification of learning and growth opportunities and succession planning
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications :
  • Bachelor Degree (in Engineering or an equivalent with Mining, Metallurgy or Business Specialization), or an equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of a degree
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of senior level experience, with prior exposure coordinating and supervising
  • Strong technical background including experience with Power BI, OSI, Google Cloud and Data systems technology is required
  • Experience using Business Improvement tools i.e. Root cause analysis, OEE, mistake proofing, DMAIC, & 5S is required
  • Experience with the budgeting process; including integrated planning
  • Previous work in mine planning and development in an open pit operation is advantageous
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly spreadsheet, word processing and presentation applications
  • Advanced analytical, problem solving and decision making abilities
  • Superior interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and work effectively across all levels of the business
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint
