Title: Projects Health and Safety Specialist - Green Fleet Development

Work location: Perth

Roster: 4/3 site; 5/2 Perth

This new role will be responsible for assisting with the implementation and auditing of Safety Management Systems to ensure continual improvement in a dynamic greenfield environment supporting Rail Decarbonisation Projects. Contribute to improving Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) performance in the respective organization to ensure an exemplary health and safety culture as well as a strong focus on the environment. Support the business by applying in-depth HSE knowledge to offer solutions and advice. This role will be supporting our Green Fleet Projects site deployment activities in FMG operation sites.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • H&S Systems creation, implementation, review and improvement
  • Reporting and reviewing safety incidents via Fortescue's Incident Management System (IMS)
  • Facility safety auditing
  • Assists line managers and supervisors in understanding obligations, liability and how to fulfil their roles, according to local Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) law and FMG / FFI policy, instructions, and standards
  • Assist line leaders with safety risk assessments to ensure all processes are implemented
  • Engaging with both internal and external stakeholders in all HSE related matters
  • Ensure appropriate safety equipment and tools are available and being used
  • Emergency Response Training
  • Contribute to risk assessments and safety discussions
  • Contribute to the development of plans, procedures, work instructions and technical documents
  • Provide feedback to relevant stakeholders regarding the trial
  • Reporting of Safety issues or conditions that may affect personnel, infrastructure, or the environment
  • Prepare/contribute HAZID, HAZOP etc
  • Action tracking from all safety deliverables

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Tertiary Health and Safety qualifications (process safety desirable)
  • Process Safety desirable
  • 5+ years Safety Management experience
  • Demonstrate a strong passion for safety
  • Experience with creation and implementation of safety systems
  • Electrical experience highly advantageous
  • Formal training in Risk Management.
  • Safety auditing qualification (Lead Auditor)
  • Experience in procedural safety development
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve
  • Intermediate MS Office skills
  • Change Management experiences
  • Strong Stakeholder Engagement skills
