What You'll Do

Safety. Works with SHE department and Company officials to promote a safe work environment that meets all State and Federal rules and regulations and ensures that the plant meets all SHE policies and practices at the site location.

Manage. Supervise activities of hourly stripping employees. May perform hands-on repair work when necessary. Manage projects to modify or add facilities and infrastructure (ex. upgrading an airstrip, building new accommodation, constructing a road, building new structures for the mill, opening up new sections of the mine, etc.). Plan projects (ex. develop full-scale project work plans and proper documentation and records including the scope of work, schedule, budgetary requirements, etc.) Track and control projects to deliver them within their approved scope, quality, budget, and schedule.

Reduce Cost. Works on the implementation of cost-saving programs and/or continuous improvement activities to reduce costs and improve operating efficiency.

Recruiting. Participates in the recruitment process which may include screening and hiring hourly stripping employees.

Coach. Individuals provide coaching and disciplinary counseling to employees under his or her area of responsibility (includes employee relations).

Train. Ensures that employees receive proper training and instructions to perform job duties. Schedule and assign employee’s work based on material movement needs (manpower planning).

Education. High School Diploma required. BS / BA degree, Associates degree, or an equivalent combination of training and work experience preferred.

Experience. Minimum of 3-5 years experience in processing and maintenance. One (1) year of supervisory experience is preferred. Construction materials industry experience preferred.

Leadership and Management Skills. Must be able to provide strong leadership and mentorship to employees, both direct and indirect reports, to motivate and maintain interpersonal relationships.

Operational Knowledge. Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of rock and sand mining, ready-mix concrete, and/or asphalt operations and equipment, MSHA regulations, engineering principles and procedures, and quality control systems and processes.

Interpersonal Skills. Ability to work in a stressful, deadline-oriented environment that requires complex, technical information and decision making. Must be able to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.

Working Conditions. The work environment will be both indoors in an office and outside in the quarry or plant. In the office, employees will occasionally be required to sit at a desk or operator's station. In the outside setting, employees will perform activities in unprotected heights, around moving machinery, be exposed to industrial conditions; may be required to use hand tools or power tools. The outside setting will expose employees to changes in temperature/humidity and will require walking on uneven surfaces.

Computer Skills. Ability to use computerized equipment and technology.

Physical Requirements. Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds and to stand, sit and walk for long periods of time. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Travel Requirements. Travel required: 10%.
