Study Director

Ambler Metals is exploring the highly prospective Ambler Mining District in northwest Alaska which is home to some of the world's richest known copper-dominant polymetallic deposits, known as the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects (UKMP). To support this exciting long-term mining exploration project, we are seeking a Study Director to be part of the Anchorage leadership team with responsibilities to advance the UKMP projects through the prefeasibility and feasibility stages of mine development. The most advanced of those projects is the Arctic Project.

The Study Director will manage the design, development, and optimization of the UKMP study programs, including the Arctic Project, and will oversee all engineering and permitting work associated with and through all phases of Ambler Metals projects investment processes. This position will manage the engineering team, including contractors and consultants, and will work cooperatively with the Exploration, Environmental, Permitting, Finance and Operational teams. Additionally, the Study Director will be responsible for assessing all aspects of process facilities and mine design, including tailings management, waste rock disposal, water treatment, and project infrastructure designs and managing the developing the mine schedule, mine plan and future geotechnical program

Qualified applicants will have a minimum of 15years’ professional mining industry engineering experience, with at least five years’ experience working in a role with relevant responsibilities. Experience developing mining operations in an arctic environment is essential.  A Bachelor’s degree in Mining/Geological/Chemical/ Process/Mechanical Engineering (or similar Engineering field) as well as the proven ability to lead people in challenging projects are required.
