We are looking for a Superintendent - Asset Management to effectively manage a technical team of maintenance planners & reliability / maintenance engineers to deliver Asset Reliability to the Ore Delivery System (ODS) assets. This is a critical role on the integrated operations team where the selected candidate will have the opportunity to overview the ODS area. This role will be based in Labrador City.
What the role entails
Reporting to the Manager, Asset Management you will be responsible for:
- Effective implementation of the Rio Tinto Asset Management strategy for the ODS. This will involve working closely with the execution teams (operations and maintenance) to ensure the assets are maintained at the required level to support IOC's business objectives.
- Effective leadership for the ODS Asset Management team by setting clear expectations, providing feedback and establishing an effective team process.
- Coaching, directing and monitoring planners, Maintenance and Reliability engineers to successfully develop quality maintenance plans and provide technical support for maintenance execution including QA/QC consistent with established health, safety and environment standards.
- Establishing an effective succession plan for the Asset Management team and ensure adequate resources are recruited and developed to ensure the sustainable implementation of the Rio Tinto Asset Management Strategy.
- Building annual and five-year shutdown schedules for major equipment outages and seek budget approvals as per the asset management process.
- Developing and owning the 5 Year Fleet strategy for the ODS area and feed the requirement into the Capital plan.
- Working closing with the Mine Planning and Integrated Operations team to produce optimized maintenance schedules which optimize IOC's value chain on a weekly, three month rolling, annual and five-year time arisen.
- Reviewing, challenging and leading activities for the purpose of optimizing maintenance strategies and work execution processes for short, medium and long term Asset maintenance.
- Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with the ATO and PODS teams to ensure effective communications and alignment of maintenance and production activities.
- Supporting and enabling the establishing health, safety and environment standards within ODS teams.
- Preparing maintenance budgets and determining forecasts, capital plans and equipment replacement strategies based upon the tactics to achieve the required asset reliability and Criticality.
- Utilizing business improvement techniques and activities to improve department & business performance.
Required Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- Uncompromising commitment to working safely and
- Good knowledge of IOC's safety standards
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) or Equivalent experience 5 years.
- Prior leadership experience and ability to coach, mentor and develop people.
- Good communication skill (written and verbal).
- Proficiency in English
- Basic knowledge of French
- Good understanding and application of the Rio Tinto Asset Management
- Strong Time management
- Good knowledge of SAP and MS Office applications - MS-Excel, MS-Word, MS-Project
- Lean Six Sigma
