About the role

We are looking for a Contractor Management Specialist to join the Greater Brockman team. The role works closely with the Maintenance and Operations teams, providing support to leaders, Contractor Management Advisors, company representatives and contract partners. The role will also be responsible for improved safety performance through transforming and continuously improving the contractor management system.

The overall accountability is to govern the safety, regulatory and commercial systems in place to manage contractors effectively at Greater Brockman. The role will ensure business risks are identified and mitigated, system design and performance are lifted to adequately support Greater Brockman achieving excellence.

Key duties include but not limited to:
  • Site governance for Element 7 Supplier and Contractor Management and the Iron Ore 5 Steps of CMS
  • Guidance in navigating policies, procedures and processes in relation to contractor engagement
  • Leading Contractor Management Advisors
  • Works closely with internal partners including RTP, H&S, central Contractor Management and Capability & Development
  • Coaching and development for site company representatives
  • Performs field verifications and interactions, displaying safety leadership
  • Facilitates monthly contractor forums and review meetings
  • Reporting and data analysis for contractor related metrics
  • Leads/participates in improvement projects as required
  • General assistance and advice for contractor management queries.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • Strong communication / interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders and build effective partnerships
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Experience with safety systems
  • An analytical nature and sound commercial acumen
  • A drive and eagerness to develop
  • Ability to work autonomously, drive outcomes and meet action plans
  • Exposure to contract management in mining operations, procurement and/or project management
  • A Manual 'C' Class Drivers Licence
  • Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills.

It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • Previous experience in business transformation and/or a proven ability to embed new processes e.g. using business improvement methodology, LEAN and Six Sigma
  • RTIO Contractor Management Company Rep Qualification (desirable).

Where you'll be working

Greater Brockman

Our facilities consist of four mine sites located approximately 1.5 hour flying time north of Perth in the west Pilbara region. Greater Brockman is key to the Rio Tinto operation due to the large volume of the Pilbara blend of iron it produces. Accommodation at the villages has all the facilities you expect to find, such as, pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, soccer fields and gyms.
