Dimensions

Reporting to the Director, Business Planning, the Senior Manager, Business Planning will be part of the Newmont North America Regional Business Planning group.

Purpose

The Regional Business Planning group acts as a strategic partner with Newmont operations, region, and corporate, to provide financial information to meet business needs.

Essential Duties

  • Manage and lead the Regional Annual Business Plan and Quarterly / Rolling Forecast processes, supporting 5 operating mines and 1 regional office across 3 countries
  • Play a key role in proactively analyzing business performance and key performance metrics to provide analytical, strategic and financial support to Regional Leadership Team.
  • Pro-actively work closely with the Americas Controllership driving resolution and alignment on financial standards and policies.
  • Engage with stakeholder groups at site, region and corporate to ensure financial plans reflect best available information and required standards.
  • Critically review Business Plans (with focus on operating and capital costs) as part of the Annual Business Plan and Forecasting processes, working closely with Site Business Managers
  • Lead the preparation and review of key accounting items as part of Business Plan and Forecast submissions (including reclamation and closure, Inventory / NRVs, financial leases, capitalize interest, DDA etc)
  • Support and identify continuous improvement initiatives for planning process efficiency and completeness.
  • Provide leadership to business planning team focusing on continual performance improvement, change management, development and coaching.


Training & Experience

  • Minimum 8 years' experience in the areas of Finance, operations and planning ideally in the mining sector or a related industry
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting or related field
  • CPA or CFA designation preferred
  • Exceptional analytical skills at both strategic and financial levels
  • Proven track record improving business processes and continuous improvement mindset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop effective relationships and communicate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Sense of urgency, self-motivated, result oriented and innovative thinker with high energy to deliver results
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, coach and retain a high-functioning team
  • Working knowledge of SAP, SAP BPC, Xeras strongly preferred
  • French and/or Spanish language proficiency would be considered an asset.


Working Conditions

  • The position is located at the North America Regional Office in Vancouver, BC.
  • Position may be required to travel to sites within the region and Denver corporate office.
