Our Red Chris mine is located on the traditional territory of the Tahltan and we encourage qualified applicants from the local communities to apply. We offer several designated marshalling points within BC including Nanaimo, Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops, Williams Lake, Prince George, Smithers, and Calgary, AB.

Purpose of the Role:

Support the section team to ensure all work is carried out in a safe, structured, agreed and timely manner. Ensure absolute compliance with legal requirement and company objectives and provide support to develop, coach and mentor team members to continuously improve their knowledge, skills and relationship interactions. Responsibility for identifying, escalating and managing impediments and developing issues to ensure delivery of work plans are achieved. Responsibility for enabling value and developing the competencies of the work teams.

Working 80% of the time on site business with a time horizon of 0 - 6 months

Accountabilities:

Key accountabilities will include the below, that may expand as the needs of the organization changes

Demonstrate technical and conceptual excellence in anticipating problems and guiding the team to deliver agreed departmental and business goals to ensure the value of the business is maintained or improved:
  • Overseeing and assisting with the preparation of the regional corporate budget, forecasts, and long-term planning process
  • Coordinating the regional Capital Reporting Committee process, including reporting/analytics to drive accountability and timeliness of the capital approval process
  • Supporting the delivery of month end results in SAP, including month-end journals, inventory modelling, NRV calculations, provision for rehabilitation, obsolescence reviews, revenue recognition, royalty payments, payment proposal reviews, transactional services and process improvements
  • Overseeing and contributing to timely and accurate regional monthly analysis and commentary requirements: Monthly Cost Reviews / Investor Relations / Half Year and Full Year reports
  • Monitoring performance indicators, highlighting trends and analysing causes of unexpected variance
  • Responding to queries and addressing issues that arise from the review of operating results
  • Supporting internal and external financial audits, including their rectification actions relating to the Accounting Stewardship Review
  • Developing financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives
  • Driving commercial and financial analysis for business improvement and transformation activities
  • Ad-hoc reporting and analysis

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Business, Finance, Accounting, Commerce Degree or MBA
  • CPA desirable
  • Minimum 4-7 years relevant experience
  • SAP experience (preferred)
  • Commercially astute, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional and interdisciplinary teams
