Our client, a blue-chip, Canadian base metals producer, is recruiting for a Procurement Manager to for their US operations in Arizona. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role will develop, implement, and lead procurement processes and controls, implement the SAP procurement module, and lead and grow the buyer team and provide effective support to other internal departments.

- Analyze new law, regulation, and contract trends for potential business impact.
- Analyze significant/unique contract requirements, special provisions, terms and assist in identification, development, and implementation of new contract policy.
- Assist in new business pursuit and associated contract strategy.
- Build, develop, and manage buyer team starting with one initial direct report.
- Develop and train team members.
- Develop manual (non-system) processes for need identification, bidding, vendor selection.
- Develop negotiation strategy and leads negotiation processes.
- Identify process risks, design appropriate controls to mitigate risks, implement controls.
- Implement system to retain evidence of control effectiveness, including establishment of purchase requisition / order system.
- Lead bidding processes and vendor selection for significant purchases.
- Lead implementation of SAP Procurement module.
- Maintain, develop, and lead vendor selection, due diligence, and bidding processes.
- Manage contract change control process policies and business unit procedures.
- Prepare complex requests for proposals processes.
- Recruit procurement roles in accordance with business needs.
- Ability to live/work in the southwest United States (US citizenship or Green Card required)
- 10 plus years of experience in procurement, ideally in a mining operations or projects environment.
- Experience establishing procurement processes and controls (both manual and SAP
- system based)
- Depth of experience with SAP procurement module (critical!) Google Suite, and Microsoft Office
- Ability to draft complex, non-routine contractual instruments.
- Knowledge of contracting concepts, Uniform Commercial Code, applicable public contract acquisition law, and regulations.
- Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, leadership, and negotiation skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
