Manufacturing Planning and Procurement Lead

Work Location: Gladstone, Queensland

FFI is transforming regional Australia through green industry manufacturing with a Global Green Energy Manufacturing Centre (GEM) in Gladstone, Queensland. Stage one of the six-stage project will establish Australia's first multi-gigawatt-scale electrolyser factory - a world-class facility with an initial capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW) per annum - more than doubling current global production.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will manage the master planning process (demand and forecast planning for sales, operations, materials and maintenance activities), and provide visibility of material availability and supplier performance to meet operational demand. You will also work with the manufacturing team to provide operations planning visibility and equipment and plant availability / downtime.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Lead and develop a team of materials planners, buyers and schedulers
  • Load demand side forecast and material plans for operational and supply visibility
  • Develop Master plan for operations and utilize SAP production planning system to plan and execute production orders
  • Ensure the schedule, production orders and plans are updated and continually monitored for deviation to plan
  • Assist with preparing operations budgets and forecast, inventory management
  • Ensure maintenance planning (PMs and breakdowns) are executed and monitored
  • Ensure timely purchase order placement to secure materials for operations
  • Ensure the material and vendor data and records are current and accurate
  • Ensure supplier backorders are monitored and confirms delivery with suppliers, monitors and tracks supplier performance to purchase order requirements
  • Maintain demand forecast and provide operations team visibility on resource, capacity and capability
  • Communicate internally and externally on order fulfilment and availability
  • Provide input to market team on matters related to costs, capacity, availability and lead times
  • Working with order entry team, ensure the sales order and forecast align and accurate
  • Report to Management on critical constraints to meet current and future demand, provide recommendation and feedback on improvement opportunities to improve customer fulfilment and commitment
  • Oversees supplier performance (on time delivery, quality, lead time), and resolves performance issues
  • Working with the SCM team, help negotiating agreements with main suppliers, and periodically renews pricelists, terms and conditions
  • Adapts corporate contractual framework to the local business needs. Recommends frame agreements to management and executes upon approval
  • Coordinate activities of the Procurement team in day-to-day operations
  • Providing training and coaching to create a team that is sustainably staffed, developed and directed to support the activities within the business
  • Provides local leadership for the development of best practices in planning systems and integrated functions in SAP
  • Leads / contributes to cross-functional initiatives using continuous improvement tools for optimizing customer on-time delivery, lead-time, inventory, material availability, resource utilization, and forecast accuracy
  • Ensures compliance with Group health, safety and environmental directives and that regulations are implemented, while monitoring and reporting progress and results
  • Assesses risks and safety hazards and implements plans to ensure people and equipment safety

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Tertiary qualification in supply chain management, engineering, business in a related field
  • Relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years' experience in planning and fulfilment roles
  • Experience in a start-up environment implementing new processes and frameworks
  • Strategic planning and project management skills with an understanding of budget administration
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, influence and build effective relationships at all levels with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal awareness with ability to work well in a team
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a drive for excellence
  • Results driven, responsible and accountable
  • Committed to workplace health and safety
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Skilled in problem solving rapidly
