Job description:
General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)
Provide technical support to all in pit production systems and hardware that fall under the mining department.
Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience
  • A Bachelor of Information Technology or relevant degree and five years' relevant experience or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting operational critical systems in a 24×7-production environment.
  • Experience with a Fleet Management systems i.e. MineStar, EDGE, Modular, Jigsaw
  • Experience with precision GPS mining systems or equivalent.
  • knowledge of IT networking and related skills.

  • Computers and Electronics- Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Telecommunications- Knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operation of telecommunications systems.
  • Customer and Personal Service- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Engineering and Technology- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English is highly regarded.
  • Deductive Reasoning- The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
    Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables
    • Maintenance of Rajant mesh network consisting of communication towers, mobile trailers, on-board network radio's, antennas, harnesses, on-board network switches and power invertors.
    • Administration and evaluation of Caterpillar MineStar Systems consisting of MineStar Fleet, MineStar Health, Object detection and MineStar Terrain on-board hardware. Hardware include G407 and G610 display units, high precision GPS units, harnesses and health interface.
    • Administration and evaluation of DSS fatigue modules consisting of DSS processor units, IR pods, dash cameras, speakers and vibrating units.
    • Administration and evaluation of Motorola Digital two-way radio systems used by mining department consisting of hand held and mobile radio units for light vehicles, mining machines and personnel.
    • Continues daily preventative maintenance checks on all network hardware, mobile trailer charging systems, fleet management hardware and fatigue management hardware.
    • Oversee, distribute and manage all FMS related support tickets raised on Service Desk.
    • Support FMS Systems Engineer in all related tasks.
    • Perform other related duties as required.

        Operational Requirements
        Cobre Panama is a remote site. This exciting position is based on-site and will be focusing on driving and delivering operational accountability and ownership across various units at Cobre Panama site. Rosters and working hours may vary depending on business requirements.

        • Comply with current environmental regulations in Panama
        • Comply with the commitments contained in the Environmental Impact Studies and other additional studies in this regard, which apply to your area and activities.
        • Comply with the provisions of the Minera Panama Environmental Management System.
