Maintenance Manager (must be eligible to work in Canada)

Reporting to the Mine General Manager, the Maintenance Manager will provide a full scope of leadership and technical expertise to Maintenance Supervisors and Maintenance Personnel to ensure that all maintenance areas operate and are maintained in a safe, cost-effective, and efficient manner.

Responsibilities 

  • Develops, leads implementation, and maintains a planned/preventive work order system which is conducted within the Copper Mountain Mine (CMM) policy, customer needs, and the statutory requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Environmental Regulations.
  • Oversees the Business Unit Asset Integrity Assessment, Improvement plan, Capital requests, and Project management of related asset projects.
  • Ensures accountability for maintaining equipment records, analyzing equipment performance, and reporting on the effectiveness of the maintenance service that meets the needs of both, the customer and CMM.
  • Safeguards the safe and reliable operation of all utilities to the CMM operations to position CMM with a reliable, predictable maintenance, and asset integrity system.
  • Establishes a positive employee climate by conducting and participating in activities that contribute to an effective working relationship with both, company employees and contractors.
  • Promotes teamwork at all levels of the operation through the communication of effective maintenance management systems and programs consisting of monitoring and enhancing as required.
  • Coaches supervisors and lead hands on safety habits including their management as well as safety incidents and accidents to ensure a robust action plan is in place to prevent any further incident reoccurrences.
  • Leads in the implementation of Digital Maintenance Projects aimed at Leverage Improvements.
  • Builds required operating and capital budgets and executes within these defined budgets.
  • Performs any other responsibilities related to the Maintenance Manager as required or as assigned by the department head.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in maintenance, project management, engineering or relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience, an MBA or equivalent postgraduate degree is advantageous,
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC,
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of actual plant experience in projects, maintenance engineering, and mobile maintenance planning and execution experience in the mining or metals industry,
  • Solid experience in mine and mill fixed facilities, machines, and equipment,
  • Previous managerial experience in maintenance and capital projects management, and asset including site experience and coupled with solid maintenance planning experience,
  • Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary teams to execute maintenance and capital projects,
  • Possesses a valid Class 5/7N British Columbia driver’s license and have access to personal transportation.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep knowledge of computerized maintenance management programs, reliability, and condition monitoring techniques,
  • Demonstrated capability with the design and implementation of asset reliability design and development,
  • Comfortable dealing with uncertainty and the ability to extract value during projects,
  • Proven client relationship management and business development skills,
  • Motivating and supportive leadership skills,
  • Demonstrated record of safety leadership and supporting a safety culture,
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint,
  • Requisite to possess a valid driver’s license,
  • Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.

  • Successful completion of pre-employment screening requirements and drug & alcohol testing, 
  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada,
  • Provide proof of a valid Class 5/7N driver’s license,
  • Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements.
