The Company trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol “WDO”.  The Eagle River Complex located at 93 Mission Rd, Wawa, ON P0S 1K0 Wawa, Ontario is currently producing gold the Eagle River Underground Mine. A Full time and permanent vacancy exist for an Instrumentation Technician. Reporting to the Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor you will become the key technical resource directly supporting surface and underground E&I control systems upgrading, maintenance, operations, and projects. You will be accountable for assisting the electrical and instrumentation department with installing, configuring, isolating, troubleshooting, cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and maintaining field instrumentation, control, and OT network systems throughout the entire site.

Duties

  • Provide technical assistance in the troubleshooting and maintenance of all field instrumentation, control, and OT network systems.
  • Perform maintenance on instrumentation/automation related equipment in coordination with operations.
  • Take proactive measures to address improvement opportunities
  • Implement and deploy new automation and controls technologies
  • Identify and document recurring problems to improve equipment reliability
  • Shift schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off (Tues to Tues)

Education

  • Electrical Journeyman Certificate (Red Seal) from any jurisdiction
  • Instrumentation Technician or  Instrumentation Technician Diploma from any jurisdiction

Experience and skills

  • Familiarity with and understanding of large horsepower motors, pumps, fans, compressors, generators controls, transmitters, gas detection, control valves, positioners, analyzers, and industrial networking.
  • Proficiency with low and medium voltage instrumentation and electrical systems
  • Experience working with/troubleshooting a plant wide DCS system (Delta V), PLC’s (Programmable Logic Controls) such as Allen Bradley’s Controllogix/Compactlogix Systems
  • Familiarity or experience with Ignition SCADA and SQL databases
  • Troubleshooting experience
  • Industrial network configuration, setup, and installation of managed switches and fiber/ copper infrastructure
  • Extensive computer and control software experience with servers
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical diagrams, and OEM Manuals
  • A keen understanding of controls and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Respond to emergency situations and or call outs as required to assist maintenance electricians.
  • Report deviations to established procedures and provide required documentation of work performed
  • Ability to work underground when needed
  • Understanding of Ontario Electrical Safety Code, and all other applicable legislation required to do the job safely and to code
