Description

With limited supervision, provide detailed support for mill operations to make the best operational decision to maximize production using data driven tools such as TROI, PI and other plant KPIs. This position will be required to conduct themselves as a user advocate of these tools and actively work to improve them. This position will be required to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization around plant constraints and improvement opportunities.
  • Continuous review of the plant throughput and recovery with ability to use data to diagnose grinding and floatation constraints and coordinate solutions with the operations team to drive plant performance improvement.
  • Ensure TROI recommendation reviews are clearly communicated to the operators crew. Provide concise feedback on the recommendation reviews when directed to the data science team.
  • Daily communication with the mine planning team and the operations team. Two way communication with the technical services department to understand and communicate to the operations team how the ore types will react in the plant.
  • Train production crews in using TROI Recs to optimize production
  • Perform other duties as requested


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Four (4) years experience in mill operations; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in metallurgy, chemistry or related engineering discipline
  • Skill in computer operations, Microsoft Office programs, PI and other database records
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Strong ability to positively influence others
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Ability to work a rotating schedule that includes night shifts
  • Ability to understand mine plan and ore performance in the mill


Criteria/Conditions:
  • Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, site demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds) during the course of the workday.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by applicable state laws
