Job Details

The Ore Control Engineer is critical to the success of the Ray mine. Daily duties include creating ore control maps, routing blasts, accounting for all materials in the mine, and daily and monthly mine production is balanced and reconciled. A solid educational foundation in Mining Engineering and the aptitude to learn mining software is essential, as is the desire to work with people from differing departments and fields. Regular trips to the pit to inspect actual mining conditions are expected. This is an entry position and an excellent opportunity for a motivated Mining Engineer to cross train with Short Range, Mid Range, and Long Range Mine Planning positions.

Essential Functions:
  • Create daily ore control maps with grade forecast in Hexagon Software
  • Lead daily morning Ore Control meeting with mine personnel
  • Reconcile prior day's mined material and post daily mined production numbers for management
  • Maintain and update the precision guidance machine control software for correct material types, material grades, road networks, and dump networks.
  • Import assays daily, and perform qa-qc on blasthole acQuire database
  • Design blast material routing for Ore, Leach and Waste in coordination with geology team
  • Prepare 4-day forecast twice weekly with haulage for progress with short range plan
  • Maintain and post weekly shot muck inventory
  • Prepare reconciled End of Month spreadsheet the 1st of every month reconciled with Survey lidar scan

Additional Duties:
  • Train with Short Range, Mid Range, Long Range Planning
  • Perform back-up mine Planning
  • Perform haulage analysis
  • Assist with trade off studies
  • Assist with special projects
  • Ability to work in an operational setting, prioritize tasks, and attention to detail
  • Ability to learn and use modern industry standard software suites

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering
  • 0 to 3 years previous experience preferred
  • Previous exposure or internship experience in Mining is beneficial
